Tokyo Disneyland – Is It Different Than American?

Tokyo DisneylandIs Tokyo Disneyland different from the American versions, and if so how? Although there are a number of similarities between the two versions, there are also some big differences as well. A very popular addition with Tokyo vacation packages, the Tokyo Disneyland is the only one in the world that is not actually owned by the Walt Disney Company. It is owned by the Oriental Land Co. Ltd, and the Disneyland name and theme are licensed from the Walt Disney Company. Tokyo sightseeing tours usually includes the Disneyland and DisneySea parks as attractions. Another difference between the American and Tokyo versions is the DisneySea sister park, which is unique to Japan and has an ocean theme. Many of the areas and attractions are the same though.

The biggest differences between Tokyo Disneyland and the American version is the language. Although in most cases the Tokyo version is friendly to foreigners, there is no guarantee that English will be spoken or understood. Even if the show or attraction has a sign in English that is not a guarantee that the actual language will be English. There are a number of translators in the different areas, but it is not always possible to have a translation performed. This may make some of the shows pointless to visit unless you speak some Japanese. Many Japan tours and vacation packages include a trip to Tokyo Disneyland , and some may provide a translator for the group.

One unique experience available when visiting Tokyo Disneyland that cannot be found at the American version is a stay in a ryokan Tokyo. This allows the visitor to stay in an authentic Japanese home setting, and to follow the traditional customs. An authentic Japanese dinner is normally included in the cost of your stay at a ryokan. Many Tokyo tours also include the Disneyland and DisneySea attractions. While different from the American versions, the Disneyland in Tokyo is still recognizable to Americans who visit, and offers a fantastic time to everyone.
